.........................
This is number 151 of a limited (275 numbered & 4 lettered) publication, by Ganymed Original Editions London, 1963 (see photo for printing particulars), of Shakespeare’s King Lear (109 numbered pages), illustrated and signed by Oskar Kokoschka.
This large format (14.5″ x 18.5″), vellum covered edition is in near fine condition, in a near fine slipcase. The only flaws to the slipcase are a few loose threads on the edges and surface wear at the corners. The only flaws to the book itself are a remaining piece of a previously attached label (presumably Carnegie Mellon’s) on the front inside cover (see photo) and a small stamp at the bottom of an otherwise blank back-of-the-book page stating this was withdrawn from the Carnegie Mellon Library (see photo). There are no other attachments, and no writing other than the artist’s signature, on the limitation page (see photo). There are no tears or creases. The binding is tight, with no loose or missing pages. All the lithographic reproductions and all text are as new.
