.........................
This is the first printing, by Millar (London), in 1744, of John Armstrong’s blank verse work, The Art of Preserving Health: A Poem (134 numbered pages), recovered in full leather, with no attribution as to the bindery.
The cover (app. 8″ x 10″), brown leather spine with five reaised bands and gilt lettering and decoration, flat yellow/orange leather boards, is in very good condition, its most notable flaws being a few stains to the back cover (see photo). There are several pencil notations to the end pages, but none to the body pages.
There are no stamps or other attachments. The binding is tight, with no loose or missing pages. There are no page tears. All the text is clean and unfaded.
The accompanying photos are accurate representations of this copy’s condition.
