.........................
This is the 1949 limited edition set of 20 copperplate engravings that incorporate art into the poems of Federico Garcia Lorca, translated into french by Rolland Simon, under the title “Chant Funèbre pour Ignacio Sanchez Mejias”, with the art and engraving of Abram Krol, signed by Krol on the 20th plate.
Each plate, on app. 10″x 12.5″ B. F. K. Rives, with deckled edges, has a number from 1 to 20. These loose plates are in a glassine protected soft cover, engraved to its front. This is contained in an open hard cover, with a face illustration to its front.
The whole work is within a slipcase that has a break to its top and several scuffs, but which is still useful protection. The original Lorca work, and this re-purposing, is an homage to the bullfighter named in the title.
