Firebird | Paul Metcalf

$125.00

Paul Metcalf (1917–1999) American writer who wrote in verse and prose, but whose work generally defies classification. He was the great-grandson of Herman Melville.

Firebird interweaves two stories in Metcalf’s documentary poem style. One story is that of a fire in 1871 which destroyed the town of Peshtigo, Wisconsin. The other tells of the great hawk migrations.

This book was designed by Charles Alexander (born 1954) director and editor-in-chief of Chax Press, an independent press specializing in innovative poetry and the book arts.
