This is Volume VIII (Reviews-Miscellanies-Letters) of the limited, 12-Volume Wakefield Edition, published by Harper & Brothers in 1900, of The Works of Oliver Goldsmith (281 numbered pages), edited by Peter Cunningham, with 6 full page illustrations in the body of the work and 2 variants of the full page frontispiece illustration.
The cover (app. 7″ x 10″), leather spine with three raised bands extending into the boards, leather outside corners, marbled boards, extensive gilt lettering and decoration, is in very good overall condition, with surface scuffs but no notable stains, light edge wear but no tears or structural weakness. The spine is straight and securely attached.
The marbled inside cover spreads are clean and unfaded, with no tears or stains, no stamps or other attachments, and no writing. There are a small number of spot stains to the outside edges, and dulling with no stains to the gilt top edges. The page faces are clean throughout the book, with no significant stains, no tears or creases. The binding is tight, with no loose or missing pages. There are no notations. There are no page tears or creases. All the illustrations and lettering are clean and unfaded.
