This is the complete 4-volume 1807 printing, by the Albion Press for James Cundee, of The Works of Jacques Bernardin Henri de Saint Pierre: Including Studies of Nature and the Indian Cottage (358, 400, 390 & 399 numbered pages, plus indices), with a memoir by Frederic Shoberl.
The covers (4.5″ x 6.75″), green leather spines and outside corners, marbled boards, 5 raised bands on gilt decorated and lettered spines, are in good condition, with minor scuffs and slight edge wear, but no significant stains, no slant to the spines and with all covers securely attached.
The only extraneous elements inside are the personal bookplates of Rev. J. Tuttle Smith, to the inside front cover of each volume.
The marbled inside cover spreads are otherwise clean and unfaded. There are recurrent light stains. Most pages have none, and no lettering is faded or obscured. The bindings are tight, with no loose or missing pages. The only tears are shallow outside edge wear from the pages having been cut open.
The 21 engravings, 4 of which are multi-panel fold-outs, are unfaded. The accompanying photos are accurate reflections of the book conditions.
