This is the Farrar & Rinehart 1929 printing, noting the particulars of the first performance, of Marc Connelly’s The Green Pastures, a Fable (173 pages), a dramatic riff on Roark Bradfort’s Ol’ Man Adam an’ His Chillun’.
The green cloth cover (app. 7.75″ x 5.375″) is sun faded to its borders and spine, on which the lettering is faded. The spine is slightly cocked, but securely connected. There is shallow edge wear, but no notable tears.
The internal condition is very good, with the pages almost uniformly clean (I’ve found one spread with light stains). There is one cracked gutter, but the binding is secure throughout, with no loose or missing pages. There are no page tears or creases. The only writings are the signatures of Richard B. Harrison (The Lord) and Daniel L. Hayes (Adam) on the half-title page. There are no stamps or other attachments.
