.........................

This is copy number 265 of the Frederick Stokes 1910 350-copy printing of William Shakespeare’s play, The Merry Wives of Windsor, printed by Ballantyne & Co. (London), and  illustrated and signed by Hugh Thomson.

The vellum cover lacks its tie-ribbon. There is a shallow bump to the upper outside front corner and a surface scuff to the top front (see photo) . There are scuffs to the back, but no significant stains. The spine is straight. The gilt lettering and art are unfaded. The attachment to the inside is secure, with no looseness to the front or back hinges.

The end pages are lightly foxed, but the pages are otherwise clean throughout the book. The only writings are the copy number and Hugh Thomson’s signature. There are no stamps or other attachments. The binding is tight, with no loose or missing pages. All the text is clean and unfaded, as are all the illustrations, both color and black and white. The laid-in color illustrations are all securely attached, with their tissue guards in place. There are no tears and few creases.

The accompanying photos are accurate reflections of the conditions.
