This is “Composizioni di Giovanni Flaxman, Scultore Inglese, Intorno i Fatti piu Celebri della Odissea di Omero, disegnate e intagliate da Ranieri Grasso”, the 1824 publication of 28 John Flaxman illustrations depicting scenes in the Odyssey, accompanied by introductory and final descriptive text in Italian.
The vellum cover (app. 12.5″ x 9.25″) has a number of stains, and a pronounced curve from the spine to its outside edge. It is securely attached to the inside, and with clearly legible lettering. The four leather ties are present, but one is shortened. The pages have recurrent stains, few of which are to live areas. All 28 illustrations are present and unfaded. The binding is secure, with no loose or missing pages. There are few creases and no significant tears. There are no stamps or other attachments.
