This is copy #44 of the Limited Editions 1992 hardcover publication, Cathay, Poems After Li Po by Ezra Pound, an exceptional 300-copy edition, in its original slipcase, with 7 color woodcuts by Francesco Clemente, whose signature, in pencil, is on the limitation page.
This is a fine condition book in a fine condition slipcase, the blue linen cover (11.875″ x 8.125″) and slipcase is unfaded and clean, with no stains, tears or creases. The debossed illustration to the front cover is also in new condition.
The pages (34 numbered), on handmade Japanese Ogawashi paper, printed by Arthur Larson at Horton Tank Graphics, is set in Monotype Lutetia by Julia Ferrari and Dan Carr, at the Golgonooza Letter Foundry. These are uniformly clean and unfaded, as are the woodblocks, which were cut by Michael Berdan at Evans Editions.
There are no stamps or other attachments. The only written notations are the artist’s signature and the copy number. The binding is tight throughout.
