This is the first edition, limited to 1000 copies, of the Oscar Wilde drama, “An Ideal Husband” (213 numbered pages) published by Leonard Smithers and Co. in 1899, with no mention of the author, who, at the time, was held in disgrace.
The cover (app. 6.25″ x 8.25″) is structurally sound, with a secure connection at the spine, which is moderately cocked. The top of the front cover is sunned. There are spots of lost color, mostly to the front cover’s outside edge. The gilt is slightly faded but clearly legible (see photo).
The inside is very good. There are occasional spot stains and light sunning to some borders, but there are no stains of substance, no tears or creases. There are no stamps or other attachments. There is no writing.
The binding is tight, with no loose or missing pages.
The accompanying photos are of this copy. More photos are available on request.
