This is Volume X of the limited, 12-Volume Wakefield Edition, published by Harper & Brothers in 1900, of The Works of Oliver Goldsmith, the second volume of the four-part biography section, His Life and Times (220 numbered pages), by John Forster, with 7 full page illustrations in the body of the work and 2 variants of the full page frontispiece illustration.
The cover (app. 7″ x 10″), leather spine with three raised bands extending into the boards, leather outside corners, marbled boards, extensive gilt lettering and decoration, is in very good condition. The spine is straight and securely attached. There are no stains or tears, no fade to the gilt or boards. There is light fade to the leather at the outside corners.
The marbled inside cover spreads are clean and unfaded, with no tears or stains, no stamps or other attachments, and no writing. There is light foxing to the outside edges, but there are no notable stains to the page faces, which have no tears. There are shallow creases to the upper outside corners of a number of pages, but these are not sharp, or in any danger of tearing. The binding is tight, with no loose or missing pages. There are no notations. The illustrations and lettering are clean and unfaded. The above photos are accurate reflections of this copy’s conditions.
